Project Spotlight — Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Boardwalk

America Strong Construction is the marine contractor for Bid Option 4 on the Bureau of Land Management’s Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area (JILONA) shoreline project—the timber boardwalk package on one of northern Palm Beach County’s most demanding public waterfronts. This is engineered, pile-driven timber construction at the historic Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse shoreline, where the Loxahatchee River, Indian River Lagoon, and inlet energy meet. The same Hobe Sound crews, barges, and Specialty Marine license also design, permit, and build private Jupiter docks. Florida Specialty Marine Contractor License #SCC131152860. Fully insured. Call (561) 284-9628.

WHAT ASC BUILT
Bid Option 4 is the timber boardwalk package within the larger JILONA shoreline program. ASC’s marine scope includes approximately 7,100 square feet (about 725 linear feet) of timber boardwalk with composite grated decking; two timber upland access stairways; 200+ boardwalk timber piles wrapped in HDPE and driven to design capacity; framing, railing, debris clearing, specified rock placement, and turbidity controls. Barge- and crane-based methods were suited to the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse shoreline. HDPE pile wrap shields timber from marine borers and saltwater attack below the waterline, while grated decking lets light through over this sensitive shoreline.

WHY THIS SHORELINE MATTERS
The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse has marked this opening since 1860. The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area was designated in 2008 at the confluence of the Loxahatchee River and Indian River Lagoon. Inlet currents, tidal exchange, boat wake, and storm energy make this edge harder on structures than a protected canal.

Methods, Transferable Skills & Contact

METHODS & EQUIPMENT
The Outstanding Natural Area is constrained by habitat, visitors, and federal site rules, so ASC built from the water. We mobilized barge and crane for pile driving, then sequenced timber framing, grated decking, railing, stairways, debris clearing, and specified rock work. Pneumatic pile hammers drove timber piles to design capacity, recorded pile by pile. In-water work ran behind turbidity controls to protect adjacent habitat and keep the channel usable. This is the same marine sequence—assessment, plans, environmental controls, driven piles, framing, finish—executed at public scale under project specifications.

WHAT IT PROVES FOR PRIVATE JUPITER DOCKS
Pile-driven timber in saltwater and wake, complete plans and agency coordination, water-based construction, and one marine contractor all transfer to private waterfront work in Admirals Cove, Jupiter Inlet Colony, Jonathan’s Landing, and canal lots off the Intracoastal. Docks, pilings, lifts, seawalls and rip-rap, dredging, and permitting can be coordinated under License #SCC131152860—not a handoff between disconnected vendors. Scale every private project to its property; the proof is competence in Jupiter’s actual water.
